An introduction

This site is born of my practical farming relatives, my stash of interesting cookbooks, my inability to follow a written recipe more than once, and an increasing awareness of the changing nature of the future of home-cooking. If the only thing you can make is reservations, this may be for you…

The purpose here is to create a storehouse of basic, easy and good-for-you recipes with variations on every theme. You will only encounter “foie gras” in this sentence.  “Blanching” will likely never be mentioned. You may get a little history or geography, but it won’t interfere with recipes intended to feed you and taste good.
